Study in Singapore

Singapore pairs internationally ranked, English-medium universities with cultural proximity to Hong Kong — a three-to-four-hour flight, familiar city life, and strong graduate employment in finance and tech.

How admission works

Applications go directly to each university (NUS, NTU, SMU, SUTD, SIT and SUSS); there is no central system. HKDSE, IB and A-Levels are accepted with published grade expectations, and interviews are common for competitive programmes. Applications typically open earlier than most destinations — check each university's international admissions calendar.

The Tuition Grant trade-off

International students may take the MOE Tuition Grant, which cuts fees sharply — in exchange for a bond to work for a Singapore-registered organisation for three years after graduation (terms on MOE's official pages). Taking the grant is optional: pay full fees and there is no bond. Decide with your family before accepting.

Visa and post-study

The university registers you for a Student's Pass (ICA SOLAR+ system) after acceptance. Graduates move to work passes (Employment Pass / S Pass) sponsored by an employer; Tuition Grant bond-holders must serve their bond in Singapore.
